Crawfish Dipping Sauce
The essential crawfish dipping sauce for your next crawfish boil! This ketchup and mayonnaise crawfish sauce is perfect for dipping your spicy crawfish tails, potatoes, and corn.
If you’re having a crawfish boil, then you need to have crawfish dipping sauce! Traditionally, bowls of this mayonnaise and ketchup based sauce will be on the crawfish boil table so everyone can get a dip. It’s not just for crawfish though, make sure to try some with your potatoes and corn, or with a seafood boil!
Have some leftover crawfish? Put them in a creamy pasta like crawfish Monica or crawfish cream sauce. You can also make fried crawfish or a crawfish po’boy! Leftover crawfish never go to waste in south Louisiana!

Expert Tip
Make crawfish dipping sauce the night before so it has time to chill in the fridge. It will taste even better the next day!
Ingredients & Substitutions
See the recipe card below for the complete list of ingredients and measurements.
- Mayonnaise – Use your favorite brand, as long as it’s not miracle whip! For more mayo based sauces, try remoulade sauce or cajun tartar sauce.
- Ketchup – Regular ketchup is best.
- Hot sauce – For cajun dishes, I prefer a vinegar based hot sauce like Louisiana Hot Sauce or Crystal Hot Sauce.
- Cajun seasoning – Use a creole seasoning like Tony Chachere’s, Slap Ya Mama, or try making your own homemade cajun seasoning.
- Other ingredients needed – worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Variations
Make this crawfish dipping sauce just how you like it! You can put out the ingredients and bowls, and have your crawfish boil guests mix their own.
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice to the sauce.
- If you love the spicy bite of prepared horseradish, add a little bit to your crawfish dip.
- For more spice, add a dash of cayenne pepper.
- Add fresh herbs like chopped parsley or green onions.
