    Hello and welcome! I am so glad you are here. My name is Lauren LeBlanc, and I am the mind behind Lauren From Scratch. A lifetime appreciation of all things cooking and food has led me to creating this blog. I grew up and lived most of my life in southern Louisiana, where food is central to every aspect of life. Now I live in Saint Petersburg, FL with my old lady Airedale terrier, Chloe. When I'm not cooking and working on recipes, you can find me out in the garden, or enjoying a cocktail on the patio.

    Lauren From Scratch is a recipe website focused on teaching you how to make the good stuff, from scratch. I focus on using fresh, wholesome, and quality ingredients to create impressive but approachable homemade recipes. I believe exceptional food doesn’t have to be reserved for restaurants only, and I love teaching others how to craft restaurant quality dishes in their own kitchens. I passionately believe cooking should be a joyful experience, and good food should be celebrated and savored with the ones you love. 

    What you will find here

    You will find recipes for real, good, food. Food that starts with the highest quality ingredients, because I believe you can’t have the best final product without starting with the best ingredients. You will find from scratch recipes that focus on flavor above all else, and the best way to coax those flavors out of your food.

    You might find some recipes that may sound intimidating, but will turn out to be anything but. I’ll be breaking them down step by step until you’re a kitchen pro. I want to demystify cooking for you. I want you to leave here with the knowledge and the confidence to tackle any fancy sounding recipe you may encounter. 

    Since I'm a New Orleans girl, born and raised, you'll also find a little bit of laissez les bon temps rouler here. That's Cajun French for "let the good times roll". We're going to make some damn good food, and we're going to have fun doing it.

    So what's up with the onion?

    When designing my logo, I knew I wanted something to embody the savory foods I most often cook, but also something organic to represent my love and appreciation for gardening. The onion is a perfect fit. My grandpa could always be found in the kitchen, chopping onions and vegetables for his locally famous Cajun cooking. The house always smelled of cooking onions. When I was younger I would be annoyed to leave his house smelling like that. Cooking onions has a way of permeating into your clothes, after all. Now I wear that smell as a badge of honor, and an homage to him and the love of cooking he instilled in me. The onion represents everything I love about cooking. I hope my passion for creating beautifully delicious food can be passed on to you through my tutorials and recipes, so you can in turn share with your loved ones. I truly believe the best food is prepared with love for the ones you’re making it for.
